Asymptotics of Resonant States
Consider a Schriidinger operator h = -V’ + V(x). x E R-’ with a compactly supported potential. ‘Its resolvent kernel G(x. J’, k) is a meromorphic function of k = Eli’, where E is the energy parameter. The poles of G in Im k ( 0 (or the second sheet of the Riemannian surface of fi) are called resonances. The corresponding solutions of the homogeneous equation hy = k2ty, I,U r-’ exp(ikr) exponent...
متن کاملProbabilistic Interpretation of Resonant States
Abstract. We provide probabilistic interpretation of resonant states. This we do by showing that the integral of the modulus square of resonance wave functions (i.e., the conventional norm) over a properly expanding spatial domain is independent of time, and therefore leads to probability conservation. This is in contrast with the conventional employment of a bi-orthogonal basis that precludes ...
متن کاملResonant States and Classical Damping
Using Koopman’s approach to classical dynamical systems we show that the classical damping may be interpreted as appearance of resonant states of the corresponding Koopman’s operator. It turns out that simple classical damped systems give rise to discrete complex spectra. Therefore, the corresponding generalized eigenvectors may be interpreted as classical resonant states.
متن کاملThe Effect of Structural Parameters on the Electronic States and Oscillator Strength of a Resonant Tunneling Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector
In this paper a resonant tunnelling quantum well infrared photodetector (RT-QWIP) is discussed. Each period of this photodetector structure comprises of a resonant tunnelling structure (AlAs/AlGaAs/AlAs) nearby a quantum well (AlGaAs/GaAs). In this photodetector, photocurrent is produced when an electron makes a transition from the ground state of the well to an excited state which is coupled t...
متن کاملGeometric Phases, Coherent States and Resonant Hamiltonians
We study characteristic aspects of the geometric phase which is associated with the generalized coherent states. This is determined by special orbits in the parameter space defining the coherent state, which is obtained as a solution of the variational equation governed by a simple model Hamiltonian called the ”resonant Hamiltonian”. Three typical coherent states are considered: SU(2), SU(1,1) ...
